Our Health Is In Our Hands!

My husband John & I

I am part of the largest generation in the U.S.– Baby Boomers.  This past January the first of us, born in 1946, reached the age of 65.  Every month until 2028 some 7000 of us will reach the age of collecting social security.  According to some polls, the thing that concerns most of us is our health.  Second is finances.

Since I just turned 60 myself I realize I have to put more effort into taking care of my health if I want to live a long and healthy life.  So I began researching natural ways of keeping healthy and even improving my health.  I’ve already been taking prescription drugs for my hypertension and high cholesterol.  If I don’t do something soon, I’ll also have type II diabetes to worry about, as my sugar has been borderline high at my last couple of blood tests.  I’ve already experienced some of the negative side effects of drugs.  I’d like to avoid having to take any more and possibly get off the ones I’m taking.

I’ve been surprised to learn that many of the diseases, even some cancers,  facing us as we age are highly preventable and even curable with some life-style changes.  Only 30% of our health is genetic–inherited from our forebears.  70% is in our control. So we can control our health to a large degree.

I’ve been learning some rather alarming things about the food we eat, along with the health benefits of what we eat and how we cook it.  I thought I would share some of what I am learning with all of you.  So I hope you enjoy my site!
